The Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) recently hosted an impactful event titled "Development Program for Pharmacists and Supporting Staff" on the 8th of June at the Kandyan Reach Hotel, Kurunegala. This free program, generously sponsored by Darley Butler Health Care, was designed to update the knowledge of pharmacists and their supporting staff, with the overarching aim of improving patient care.

The program featured a series of insightful sessions led by eminent speakers who are experts in their fields:

1.     Evidence-Based Pharmacy Practice in Good Pharmacy Practice
Mr. Chula Edirisinghe kicked off the event with a session focused on the importance of evidence-based practices in maintaining high standards of pharmacy operations. He emphasized how pharmacists can leverage evidence-based strategies to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to good pharmacy practices.

2.     How to Groom Yourself to be patient-Centered MTM Pharmacist
Mr. Kelum Jayasuriya delivered a compelling talk on the evolution of pharmacists into patient-centered Medication Therapy Management (MTM) practitioners. He provided practical tips and strategies for pharmacists to enhance their patient interaction skills, ensuring they deliver personalized and effective care

3.     importance of Stress-Free Pharmacy Staff and Methodical Pharmacy Management in Patient-Oriented Retail Pharmacy
Ms. Dilmini Madawala concluded the sessions with a focus on the well-being of pharmacy staff. She highlighted the critical role that stress management and organized pharmacy operations play in creating a patient-oriented retail pharmacy environment. Her session underscored the direct link between a well-managed, stress-free staff and improved patient care

Interactive Q&A and Fellowship

Following the informative sessions, the event was wrapped up with an engaging Q&A segment, allowing participants to clarify doubts, discuss ideas, and gain deeper insights from the experts. This interactive session facilitated a dynamic exchange of knowledge and experiences, enriching the overall learning experience.
